Welcome to the St. Edmund IB world school website

In Memoriam

Dear Parents / Guardians;

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Joanne Johnson who worked in the St. Edmund School office.  The community and school are grieving the loss of such a vital member of our school community as she lost her battle with cancer.

Joanne was an active member of St. Edmund School for the past 3˝ years.  She did such duties as answering phones, greeting students, handing out late slips and organizing bus passes. Joanne’s dedication and enthusiasm will be thoroughly missed.  She was kind, thoughtful and displayed a sensitivity to others which endeared her to staff and students alike.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joanne Johnson will be held at the school on Thursday, January 26 with Junior High at 8:30 and Elementary at 9:30 am.  An invitation is extended to all members of the community to attend.

Yours in Catholic Education,

Don Andrews

Principal

St. Edmund School - Centre for Excellence in Academics and Athletics - is a Christ-centered community that nurtures the gifts and celebrates the uniqueness of each child.  With a focus in two select programming areas the school sets itself apart from other K-9 schools in the Greater Edmonton area.  The Sports Academies and the International Baccalaureate Program work together to prepare the students of today to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Our school's focus on sports is second to none.  The Hockey and Soccer Academies run everyday in the afternoon with a rigorous and challenging curriculum presented to the students in the mornings.  The newest addition to our academy selection is the Recreation Academy (new this year) which has already demonstrated the value and worth of such programming in schools today.  Rounding off our sport focus is an Alternative Sports program that caters to the abilities of athletes who are not part of the other sports academies but who have a desire to train in a different sport than those offered by the school.

The International Baccalaureate Program has both a middle years and primary years focus.  Since its inception into our school this program has helped staff better meet the varied and diverse needs of our students.  Each year the IB at St. Edmund grows and develops adding wonderful opportunities for students, staff and the parent community.

St. Edmond school is proud of our Catholic traditions and values and we believe that providing the aforementioned programs within the context of our Catholic faith helps us to make each child's experience richer as we journey in "faith" together confident in God's everlasting grace.

We look forward to working with our St. Edmund School community to continue to create innovative and challenging programs for the children that attend our school.
